MAMMALIAN PATHOBIOLOGY

Parking: You do NOT need a parking permit to park in West Laramie.  If there is no room in the front lot on the north side of the building, please go to the south side of the building and park safely there.  


 

This upper division undergraduate class and (with additional requirements) graduate level class is taught by three veterinary pathologists (Drs. O'Toole, Montgomery, and Swist) It addresses the anatomical, pathophysiological and mechanistic basis of disease in non-human mammalian species.  Its emphasis is on disease concepts, and on gross, microscopic and clinicopathological changes associated with lesions.  It addresses cell injury and death, cellular degeneration,  disturbances of growth and circulation, neoplasia, inflammation and recognition of gross and microscopic tissue changes.  A background in immunology and histology is beneficial but not essential.  Prerequisites:  C or better in BIOL2022.  There is an emphasis in the course on the pathogenesis of infectious agents.

Audience: Medical microbiology students; pre-veterinary students; students interested in biomedicine; graduate students in biomedical fields.
