On
the Front Cover. Thomas Adams, a native of Shelby,
Iowa, majors in both geology/geophysics and zoology/physiology at
UW. For the past three years, Adams has expressed his creative
side by painting prehistoric murals in the university's Geological
Museum. Adams' fossil studies enable him to accurately depict
dinosaurs that roamed the earth millions of years ago and the
habitat in which they lived. The museum, he says, is the perfect
blend of artistic venue and educational resource for his work.
"These murals help convey scientific concepts to the public
and allow me to combine my interests in art and science,"
Adams says. The mural on the cover show the Allosaurus "Big
Al" (the green dinosaur on the left) stalking a wary
Apatosaurus. (Ted Brummond photograph)
