The purpose of the Wyoming Student Athletic Trainers' Association
(WSATA) is to encourage and aid the members in acquiring certification
in the field of athletic training, increase the member's knowledge of
the athletic training profession, increase student athletic trainer
group cohesion, to enable the student athletic trainers to have a voice
in their work environment, and to abide by the established University of
Wyoming policies. Membership: All student athletic trainers and
students interested in athletic training at the University of Wyoming
are eligible for membership.
Dues: The dues of each member
will be $20 per year with a $5 initiation fee for all new members.

Activities
WSATA Athletic Training Camp
This is an
excellent opportunity for those interested in Athletic Training,
Pre-Physical Therapy, or a career in the health services. The camp is
designed to give students the skills to provide basic assessment care
and treatment of athletic injuries at their high school.
Dates: July 19th - 22nd 2007
Cost: Beginner with housing $265
Beginner without housing $225
Advanced with housing $270 Advanced
without housing $230
Features:

Beginner and Advance Camp offered in in summer of 2007

Lectures: medical terminology, emergency care, blood borne
pathogens, wound care, concussion and head injuries, ankle/foot,
shoulder, knee, and heat/cold injuries.

Labs:
Students' perform skills on preventative taping, emergency
management, concussion assessment, modalities, rehabilitation, and
injury evaluation.

Athletic Training Month
March 2006: WSATA
members supported National Athletic Training Month by
hosting an informational table in the UW student union. They are handing
out material regarding common sport injuries and treatments, nutritional
facts, and information regarding the profession of athletic training.

Amber Barlow graduated
in 2006 and is currently a Graduate Assistant Athletic Trainer at
Utah State University in Logan, UT. She is completing her Masters
degree in Exercise Science - Corporate Wellness and is working with
the Track & Field and Cross County Teams.

Jessica Cathcart, ATC
graduated in 2006 and is currently a Graduate Assistant Athletic
Trainer at the University of South Carolina in Columbia, SC. She is
completing her masters degree in Physical Education - Athletic
Training and is working with the Women's Tennis and Men's Golf
teams.

Jen Sutherland, ATC graduated in 2005 and is currently a Graduate Assistant Athletic
Trainer at Ole
Miss in Oxford, Mississippi. Her primary sport coverage is
Volleyball, and is enjoying her time as an athletic trainer and grad
student.

Jacob Botts,
MS,
ATC graduated in
2005 and is a Graduate Assistant Athletic Trainer at
Virginia Tech in
Blacksburg, Virginia. His current sport coverage is Women's
Lacrosse and Football.

Jen
Cloud, ATC graduated in 2005 and is currently a Graduate
Assistant Athletic Trainer at
Louisiana Tech in Ruston, Louisiana. She completed the NATABOC
exam in January. Jen is the Athletic Trainer responsible for
Volleyball and Softball.

Christy
Hopkins, ATC graduated in 2005 and passed her NATABOC exam this
past January. She is currently finishing up Massage Therapy School
in Denver, CO and is in the pursuit for an Athletic Training
Graduate Assistantship.

Brandie Yeik, ATC
graduated in December of 2003 and was the WSATA president for 2
years. Brandie is currently finishing up her last year as a Graduate
Assistant Athletic Trainer at the
University of
Southern Mississippi.

Tammy Cain, ATC
graduated in 2002 with a Bachelors Degree in exercise physiology and
obtained Masters Degree in in exercise science in May 2004. Tammy is
currently working in the physical therapy department at
Rocky Mountain
Orthopedic Specialists in Cheyenne, WY.

Gary Scott, MS, ATC was a
student athletic trainer for the cowboys/cowgirls from 1982-1987. He
currently resides in Athens, GA and works at Athens Orthopedic
Clinic the High School Outreach Director for Athletic Training.

Greg Gardner,
EdD, ATC was a student athletic trainer in the late 1970's to early
80's. He currently is the Administrative Coordinator at the
University of Tulsa.

Kevin Collins, MS, ATC
was a student athletic trainer in the late 1980's. He currently is
an Athletic Trainer at Rosenburg High School in Rosenburg, OR.

William Roberts, MEd,
LAT, ATC was a student athletic trainer in the late 1970's into the
early 1980's. He currently is working as an Athletic Trainer at Via
Christi Rehabilitation Center in Wichita, KS.
