Students Present Projects at UW Graduate Symposium |

May 3, 2005 -- Students were honored for diverse research projects during the recent Graduate Symposium at the University of Wyoming. A wide variety of projects were presented and reviewed by judges at the two-day event in the Wyoming Union.
The annual symposium is an opportunity for graduate students in all disciplines to showcase their achievements by participating in either poster or oral presentations.
"The symposium enhances the institutional culture of innovativeness, intellectual curiosity, discovery and expansive scholarship," says Don Roth, dean of the UW Graduate School.
Oral presentation winners listed by departments and their hometowns were: Amanda Brooks, molecular biology, Casper; Damon DuBord, economics and finance, Moorhead, Minn.; Matthew Hoskins, geology and geophysics, Cooperstown, N.Y.; Gary Homann, psychology, Columbus, Ind.; Jason Kolts, zoology and physiology, Olympia, Wash.; Zabedah Saad, statistics, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia; Mary Katherine Scott, modern and classical languages and Alexander Wolf, animal science, both of Laramie; and Zhengxin (Jason) Tong, chemical and petroleum engineering, ChunAn, ZhengJiang, P.R.China.
Other oral presentation winners were: Katy Brown, sociology/women's studies, West Covina, Calif.; Amitava Chatterjee, renewable resources, Barrackpore, West Bengal, India T.J. Fudge, geology and geophysics, Christopher McIntosh, economics and finance, Dmitri Ryjenkov, molecular biology, and Julie Sellers, adult learning and technology, all of Laramie; Sarah Walters, atmospheric science, Phoenix, Ariz.; and James Zier, geography and recreation, Dayton.
Poster presentation winners listed by departments and their hometowns were: Christine Adams, psychology, Northglenn, Colo.; Catherine Hubbard, zoology and physiology, Napa, Calif.; B.G. Kunz, civil and architectural engineering, Cody; Jason Nieuwsma and Jennifer Wright, both psychology from Laramie; and joint presentation, Abbey Wick, Cleveland, Ohio, and Sadikshya Rana, Baneshwor, Kathmandu, Nepal, both renewable resources.
Other poster presentation winners were: Cory Burghy, psychology, Madison, Wis.; Joel Liesman, civil and architectural engineering, Greeley, Colo., Mark McLean, statistics, San Antonio, Texas; Heidi Smith, plant sciences, and Sarah Voss Horrell, psychology, both of Laramie; and Dayong Wu, renewable resources, Dongguang, Hebei China.
