Pharmacology Professor to Present Cancer Research |

April 6, 2007 -- Michael Karin, a professor of pharmacology at the University of California, San Diego, will speak on cancer as part of the Graduate School's Distinguished Speakers Series Monday, April 9, at 1 p.m. in the Wyoming Union Family Room.
Karin's presentation, "How Inflammation Stimulates Development and Progression of Cancer," is free and open to the public.
He a leading world authority on signal transduction pathways that regulate gene expression in response to extracellular stimuli. Elected to the National Academy of Sciences in 2005, Karin has published more than 200 scientific articles. He was ranked first worldwide by the Institute of Scientific Information (ISI) in a recent listing of most-cited molecular biology and genetic research papers published in prestigious journals.
