Our Town

UW’s high-plains home, Laramie is a friendly and welcoming community of 25,000 residents nestled on a high plain between two mountain ranges in the southeastern corner of Wyoming.

UW students and visitors enjoy both a special blend of Laramie’s western hospitality and the comfortable sophistication that comes from the influence of a major university.

Hit the city’s skateboard park, browse through historic downtown, dine in one of our fine restaurants, relax in a coffeehouse, check out the Laramie Plains Museum, or take in the restored Wyoming Territorial Prison State Historic Site which was originally built in 1872, it is one of only two territorial prisons remaining in the nation. The park is also home to the Ranchland Exhibit, Frontier Town, and the Horsebarn Dinner Theatre. The park is open from mid-May to the end of September.

Summers offer the excitement of Laramie’s Jubilee Days celebration and close proximity to the world-class rodeo action and entertainment of Cheyenne Frontier Days.
