Plan of Action

The Equity Subcommittee of the Athletics Planning Committee will adhere to the following Action Plan based on the elements outlined in the Equity Subcommittee’s Mission Statement:

·         Monitor the Division of Intercollegiate Athletics adherence to established University of Wyoming Equal Employment opportunity / affirmative Action procedures for staff, administrators, and coaches.

·         Review on an annual basis gender-based proportionality ratios of student-athletes and the overall undergraduate student-population.

·         Review on an annual basis gender and racial or ethnic composition of athletics personnel, student-athletes, and students in general.

·         Review annually on a sport-by-sport basis athletic scholarship and recruiting budgets.

·         Review annually on a sport-by-sport basis athletic participation and opportunities (number of participants), number of contests, and operating expenses.

·         Review annually on a sport-by-sport basis coaching opportunities and salary structure.

·         Each semester, consult with the Student-Athlete Advisory Board on issues of concern to University student-athletes in relation to student-athlete welfare. Support units of the Division (Athletic Administration, Academic Counseling, Business Office, Equipment Room, Facilities, Ticket Office, and Weight Room) will be subject to evaluation by the Subcommittee.

·         Address additional issues deemed appropriate by the Athletics Planning Committee.

The Equity Subcommittee will report on a continuing basis to the Athletics Planning Committee.

·         Review annually on a sport-by-sport basis athletic participation opportunities (number of participants), number of contests, and operating expenses. (November 1)

·         Review annually on a sport-by-sport basis coaching opportunities and salary structure. (April 1)

·         Each semester, consult with the Student-Athlete Advisory Board on issues of concern to University student-athletes in relation to student-athlete welfare. ·         Review on a semiannual basis gender and racial or ethnic composition of athletics personnel, athletics screening / search committees, student-athletes, and students in general. (November 1 & April 1)

·         Report semi-annually to the Athletics Planning Committee on compliance with Minority Opportunities Plan. November and April)

·         Reassess and reestablish goals biennially based on semiannual evaluation process of Minority Opportunities Plan and recommend additional initiatives if deemed necessary. (April 1998, April 2000, April 2002,…)

·         Review graduation rate data for student-athletes compared to the general student population as accounted for in the Official NCAA Graduation-Rates Report. (November 1)

·         Review annually on a sport-by-sport basis athletic scholarship and recruiting budgets utilizing five-year matrix of relative information. (November 1)

·         Review annually on a sport-by-sport basis athletic participation opportunities (number of participants), number of contests, and operating expenses. (November 1)

·         Review annually on a sport-by-sport basis coaching opportunities and salary structure. (April 1)
