Course Review Process 2009-2010

The University Studies Committee prefers to receive proposals in an electronic format.  Materials should be sent to aneesamc@uwyo.edu. A hard copy of the appropriate form, with appropriate signatures, must be received before the proposal can be given final approval.

All course proposals submitted to the University Studies Program for inclusion in the program must include the following items.

  1. Course proposal/action request form:

    1. Existing courses: University Studies Course Proposal Form located at http://www.uwyo.edu/unst/existing_courses_form.doc, approved by the department and college.  Please do NOT submit multiple copies.
    2. New or requires action by the University Course Review Committee: Course Action Request form (located at http://uwadmnweb.uwyo.edu/registrar/coursecomm.asp)  approved by department and college.

  2. Detailed course syllabus (must contain a statement of the USP objectives, specific to the course - (click to see samples).

  3. USP criteria review sheets for each category requested (no more than two categories for a single course).

Proposals for new and modified lower division courses (1000-2000) need to be submitted for the Wyoming community college course articulation process (as currently done). Janet Timmerman at 766-3152 can provide information and will assist with the process. This may be done concurrently with USP review.

Completed proposals must be received in the Office of Academic Affairs at least two weeks prior to the meeting in which they are to be reviewed.  See schedule of meetings below.

Please consider how each course submitted for University Studies review will affect or be affected by the major and minor requirements, college requirements, and other University Studies courses.  Please also consider the articulation agreement (located at http://uwyo.edu/unst/Artic_agree.pdf) with Wyoming community colleges and how your requirements will affect these and other transfer students.

If you have questions regarding your submission, please contact Aneesa McDonald at 766-4287.
