The major difference between the codes for the two USP systems is the use of alphanumeric designations for the old (1991) USP system, and solely letter designations for the new (2003) USP system. The sequence A, B, C, used for Writing and Quantitative Reasoning Categories indicates Introductory, Lower Division, and Upper Division. Courses approved under 1991 are NOT automatically approved for 2003. Please check the general bulletin, class schedule or USP 2003 approved list to determine if courses will meet the requirements.
