Tutor Referral & Study Skills

While there are many functions of tutoring, the major objectives are to provide reinforcement of class work, to clarify information, to assists with remediation of background "gaps," to enhance understanding of assignments, to provide "modeling" of successful learning and study strategies for a particular discipline of study, and to engage the student as an active participant in the learning process.

Group tutoring is available through Academic Services via the Student Learning Center located in Washakie Center.  More information about group tutoring can be found at the Academic Services website: http://uwadmnweb.uwyo.edu/SEO/academic_services/default.asp

Your UDSS coordinator can also provide you with information about group tutoring available through the Student Learning Center and other campus departments.

Individual tutoring may also be available at the student’s expense. Academic Services maintains a private tutor referral list, that may be found on their web site at: http://uwadmnweb.uwyo.edu/SEO/academic_services/default.asp

Please note that tutoring is considered a personal service and is not a legally-mandated academic adjustment or service.  However, UDSS will ensure that tutoring provided by UW is accessible to students with disabilities.

Student Success Services (SSS) is another project within SEO that provides a variety of academic support services. (To learn more about SSS go to their website: http://uwadmnweb.uwyo.edu/SEO/sss/.)  The services offered by SSS include individual tutoring and study skills development which may complement the disability-related services provided by our program.  We encourage you to discuss these options with your UDSS coordinator.
