Dates to Remember: Fall 2006


A Note about the Albany County School Calendar:  UW String Project Classes will meet even when public school does not UNLESS indicated on this schedule. 

Friday, September 7, 4:10-5:00 - Fine Arts Band Room 2nd Year students’ Welcome Back Party

Monday, September 10, Starting at 6:30 - UW Lab School Music Rm. High Plains Sinfonia auditions for 6th-9th graders, call 766-5243 to schedule an audition. 

Tuesday, September 11, 6:00-6:50 - UW Fine Arts Choir Room 3rd Year + students’ Fall Orientation 

Friday September 14 - 3rd Year + students begin private lessons  

Monday, September 17 - UWSP Ensemble and High Plains Sinfonia begin 7:00 UW Lab School, Music Rooms 

Week of October 1

  • Monday, October 1- 1st year registration 7:00 pm UW Education Auditorium
  • Friday October 5- 1st year classes begin, UW Lab School Music Rooms

Week of November 19 Thanksgiving break 

  • Monday - UWSP Ensemble and High Plains Sinfonie WILL meet.
  • Tuesday - 1st year, 2nd year classes and 3+ year private lessons WILL meet
  • Wednesday-Friday -Thanksgiving break

Saturday, December 1 

Private lesson day for 1st and 2nd year students- Individual lessons scheduled for Saturday morning.  These lessons will take place in the Fine Arts Building.  Lesson schedule TBA. 

Tuesday December 4

4:00 2nd year and 3+ year students arrive for rehearsal in the UW Education Building, Auditorium         

5:00 pm - Concert in the UW Education Auditorium- 2nd year groups, select solos, UWSP        Ensemble, High Plains Sinfonia

5:50 pm - pick up time for all students   

First year students are required to attend this performance in place of their usual classes.  3:30 and 4:30 1st year classes canceled, all come at 5:00.  All parents are encouraged to attend.


Friday December 7   Last day of classes for fall semester.  

1st year classes will hold an open house for parents including a parent’s meeting and an informal performance (UW Lab School Cafeteria).

2nd year classes will have “solo day”

3rd-5th year dress rehearsal for solo recital, students will be scheduled in groups of 4 for 30” beginning at 4:00 pm Solos must be memorized 

Monday, December 10 - 3+ years Solo Recitals Fine Arts Choir Room

4:00 Rehearsals as needed, 5:00 Recital

6:00 Rehearsals as needed, 7:00 Recital

Each 3+ year student will perform on only one recital.

First and second year students are encouraged to attend.

UW String Project Spring Fees are due in December!

Please make payment at one of the following events

  • December 4 Concert
  • December 7 1st year Open House
  • December 10 3+ year solo recitals

Spring Start Up Dates: 

Monday January 14 - High Plains Sinfonia, UWSP Ensemble begin.  Schedule and location remain the same. 

Tuesday January 15 - 1st and 2nd year classes begin.  Schedule and location will remain the same.
