The University of Wyoming String Project is a program to teach beginning string students and to develop future string teachers. Children begin studying violin, viola, cello and double bass in the third and fourth grade. After two years of group instruction, String Project students begin weekly private lessons and play in an ensemble. String Project classes and lessons are taught by UW music students under the close supervision of a master teacher. String Project faculty teach up to six hours per week and receive a stipend for their work.
