Veterans Benefits

If you previously served in the armed forces you may be able to apply your benefits towards a college education. Simply come to the Office of Student Financial Aid and see a staff member in our VA area. You may also contact us by email at: vafinaid@uwyo.edu. After you apply for benefits you should get a letter from the VA office in St. Louis telling you about your eligibility. Once you've registered at UW and signed up for classes your application will be certified and payment of your benefits will begin. Usually the payments will be mailed directly to you.

You will need to bring your discharge certificate from active duty (DD Form 214); those in the National Reserve should bring their NOBE (DD Form 2384 or Notice of Basic Eligibility), and dependents should come with a declaration of status of dependents form (Form 21-686c). To receive benefits you must have declared a major field of study, and once you begin receiving benefits, you must come to our office and fill out a VA registration card every semester. You will also be expected to sign in early each month, to certify your continued class attendance.
