2.0  wyoming sbir success story - Square one achieves commercialization in record time

Congratulations to Bob Viola and his talented team at Square One Systems Design for achieving commercialization of an SBIR project in record time. In November 2004, Square One received a WSSI Phase 0 award for a proposal to develop a digitally-controlled positioning system for the Department of Energy. Subsequent DOE Phase I and Phase II SBIR awards provided funding for the successful development of what is now known as the “Tri-Sphere” system. The Tri-Sphere design is scaleable, capable of high-precision positioning of loads from ounces to tons in six degrees of freedom. Earlier this month, Square One received its first commercial order for a Tri-Sphere system from the Oak Ridge National Laboratory for incorporation in the SNAP Diffractometer. The future of the Tri-Sphere is very promising – there are high-energy accelerator projects on the boards that could require hundreds if not thousands of Tri-Spheres. Congratulations again to Bob and his crew – we are very proud of their record of success in the SBIR program.

3.0  senator enzi's inventors conference to be held in rock springs - April 2

Senator Enzi invites you to attend his FREE “Inventors Conference: From Your Garage to the Assembly Line” at the Rock Springs Holiday Inn on April 2nd.  Speakers have been invited to present on a wide range of topics including intellectual property, business plans, the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, invention evaluation, funding opportunities, marketing and patent research, and many more. Participants will have an opportunity to meet one-on-one with the various speakers during a breakout session.

Successful inventors learn how to bridge the gap between ideas and products. Even if you can only attend a few sessions, the conference is an opportunity for you to learn firsthand about the inventing process from knowledgeable speakers.

If you plan on attending or need more information, please contact Senator Enzi’s Gillette office at (307) 682-6268 or Robin Bailey at robin_bailey@enzi.senate.gov.

9.0 the small business technology council (SBTC) - our advocate in Washington

The nation’s technology-based small business sector is woefully short on consistent advocacy in the national government, particularly in the Congress. The Small Business Technology Council (SBTC) is becoming an increasingly effective voice, particularly on SBIR program issues. For example, they have led the ongoing battle to prevent the intrusion of large Venture Capital owned businesses into the SBIR program. The SBTC deserves your support – to learn more, go to www.sbtc.org.
