Workshop: “How to Start a Company with Nothing”
2:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m.
Wyoming Technology Business Center, 1938 Harney Street, Laramie.

Entrepreneurs can also learn how to use bootstrapping to finance their startups during our afternoon workshop. Bootstrapping is how companies obtain resources when external investors and debt financing are not available. The cost of the workshop is free for members and $25 for non-members. The Wyoming Business Council will sponsor students.
Evening Program: “Delta Nu’s Story: From UW Spinout to Successful Exit ”

Learn how DeltaNu used a variety of funding sources to evolve from a startup in Laramie to a successful high tech company, which was bought last month by Silicon Valley based Intevac, Inc. The lessons learned and insight will be shared by DeltaNu founder and Intevac's Raman Spectroscopy General Manager, Dr. Keith Carron and other key people from Delta Nu and from the acquiring company.
Intevac, Inc. acquired DeltaNu, which manufactures Raman spectrometers for education, research and industry in Laramie. DeltaNu will be operated as a wholly owned subsidiary of Intevac and remain in Laramie. DeltaNu founders started their company with a little bit of their own money and a lot of talent, all of which they used to obtain federal monetary awards through the Small Business Innovation Research Program and to develop Raman spectrometers. The company also received help through the Wyoming SBIR/STTR Initiative (WSSI), which is funded by the University of Wyoming and the Wyoming Business Council.
The cost is $25 for members and students and $40 for non-members. The program will also feature four premier startup entrepreneurs pitching their companies to entrepreneurs, professional service providers and investors.

5.0  meet senator enzi's new grants person

Senator Enzi has placed a new grants coordinator in his Casper office to assist Wyoming constituents and communities find funding for foundations, businesses, organizations or special projects. Richard Hawley, a five-year veteran of Enzi's D.C. office, will be taking over for Scott Wilson who was the previous grants coordinator since 2003. From his Casper office Hawley will travel to every part of the state learning about the needs of the various communities and assisting in finding federal funding for various projects.

"Wyoming is home and I am glad to be back. I am really looking forward to traveling around the state to meet and help as many people as possible," said Hawley, a native of Lovell. "There are federal pools and
foundation streams of funding out there, but finding them and then actually getting some assistance can be very difficult. That's where I come in. I have experience in this area and can show people the way. It's hard for smaller population areas to afford help when searching for grants and special loans, but Wyoming people deserve access to aid as much as people from the larger states."
