A single girl who worked in a busy office arrived one morning and began passing out big cigars and chocolates, both tied with blue ribbons. When asked what the occasion was, she proudly displayed a new diamond solitaire ring on her third finger, left hand, and announced, "It's a boy, six feet tall, 170 pounds!"
Manufacturing-Works is holding their annual awards
event in Sheridan on August 8-10. The WSSI will make a presentation featuring
SBIR emphasis on manufacturing innovation. Full details on this important
all-Wyoming event can be found at
http://www.manufacturing-works.com/awardsCeremony.htm . This event includes
an important WSSI presentation on Thursday August 10th for all those interested
in SBIR participation. There is no charge for this program.
Each year, the federal SBIR agencies sponsor a SWIFT bus tour of rural states.
This year’s tour includes a stop in Wyoming. The event will be held at the Best
Western Ramkota Hotel in Casper on September 13. This is a rare opportunity to
visit one-on-one with representatives from all the federal SBIR agencies. The
program starts with a continental breakfast from 7-8 AM followed by agency
presentations. There will be a buffet lunch followed by an afternoon program
featuring panel discussions by successful Wyoming SBIR participants. Don’t miss

A little boy asked his father, "Daddy, how much does it cost to get married?" The father replied, "I don't know son, I'm still paying."
NASA issued presolicitation notices for their 2006 SBIR and STTR offerings.
The NASA SBIR 2006 technical topics and subtopics support the NASA Mission
Directorates of Space Operations, Aeronautics Research, Science, and Exploration
Systems. The NASA STTR 2006 research areas are aligned with the needs associated
with the core competencies of the NASA Centers. NASA will issue the combined
STTR/SBIR solicitation starting at noon Eastern time on July 7, 20056 and
proposals will be due September 7, 2006, 5:00 pm Eastern time. While the
solicitation documents are combined, the review, selection and award processes
will be conducted separately for each program. Proposals must be submitted as
either an SBIR or an STTR proposal and will only be considered for award under
one program.
To participate in the NASA SBIR and STTR program, firms must have Internet
access and an e-mail address. The solicitation and other program information
will be available on the NASA SBIR/STTR home page which can be viewed at
http://sbir.nasa.gov/. Distribution will be
by the Internet and paper copies of the solicitation will not be distributed. If
downloading the solicitation from the NASA homepage is not possible, potential
offerors may request assistance from the NASA SBIR/STTR Support Office by
calling (301)937-0888. The 2006 NASA SBIR presolicitation notice is available at

One
summer evening during a violent thunderstorm a mother was tucking her small boy
into bed. She was about to turn off the light when he asked with a tremor in his
voice, "Mummy, will you sleep with me tonight?"
The mother smiled and gave him a
reassuring hug. "I can't, dear," she said. "I have to sleep in Daddy's room."
A long silence was broken at last by his
shaky little voice: "The sissy."

A woman awoke during the night to find that her husband was not in bed. She
put on her robe and went downstairs. He was sitting at the kitchen table with a
cup of coffee in front of him. He appeared to be in deep thought, just staring
at the wall. She saw him wipe a tear from his eye and take a sip of his coffee.
"What's the matter dear? Why are you down here at this time of night?" she
asked. "Do you remember twenty years ago when we were dating and you were only
16?" he asked. "Yes, I do," she replied. "Do you remember when your father
caught us in the back seat of my car making out?" "Yes, I remember." "Do you
remember when he shoved that shotgun in my face and said, “Either you marry my
daughter or spend twenty years in jail?” "Yes, I do," she said. He wiped another
tear from his cheek and said, "You know...I would have gotten out today."
The Tibbetts Awards Program has been revived after a three year hiatus. The
awards ceremony will be held September 26, 2006 at the Wyndham Hotel,
Washington, DC. Named for Roland Tibbetts, the person acknowledged as the father
of the SBIR program, these prestigious, national awards are made annually to
those small firms, projects, organizations and individuals judged to exemplify
the very best in SBIR achievement. The emphasis is on recognizing those
accomplishments where, in the judgment of those closely involved and often most
immediately affected, the stimulus of SBIR funding has made an important and
definable difference. The nominations must be received no later than July 15.
Nomination packages and complete Information can be found at
www.tibbettsawards.org .
Little Johnny's father said, "Let me see your report card." Johnny
replied, "I don't have it." "Why not?" His father asked. "My friend
borrowed it - he wants to scare his parents."

An acquaintance of mine who is a physician told this story about her then
four-year-old daughter. On the way to preschool, the doctor had left her
stethoscope on the car seat, and her little girl picked it up and began playing
with it. Be still, my heart, thought my friend, my daughter wants to follow in
my footsteps! Then the child spoke into the instrument: "Welcome to McDonald's.
May I take your order?"
