2.0 WSSI State-Wide Conference - April 19

The 2006 WSSI SBIR/STTR Conference has been scheduled for Wednesday April 19 at the Cheyenne Holiday Inn. A full day of sessions is planned with lunch and evening banquet included in the registration fee ($75 if paid on or before March 31, $100 thereafter). The morning sessions will include presentations by representatives from state and federal SBIR and support agencies. The two-track afternoon sessions (Rookies & Veterans) will be presented by representatives from Denver-based PBC, Inc., a national SBIR full-service provider. A conference page will soon be added to our website www.uwyo.edu/sbir containing updates on program agenda, online registration instructions and other pertinent information.

And be sure to plan to attend Senator Enzi’s Wyoming Inventors Conference on the following two days April 20 & 21, also at the Cheyenne Holiday Inn. This popular event is increasingly well attended so make your plans early. More details will be included in our WSSI conference website

3.0  Fifth Annual SBIR Colorado Conference - March 8 & 9

SBIR Colorado (a non-profit corporation) has assembled an impressive group of speakers, presenters and network facilitators for their SBIR/STTR Conference to be held at the Arvada Center, March 8 th & 9 th. Preceding the conference, SBIR Colorado will be conducting a series of 2- to 4-hour introductory SBIR/STTR workshops to various organizations throughout Colorado. Some will be specific to the business community, and others will be focused on the interests of academic researchers. Find out more at www.sbircolorado.org.

4.0 SBIR NEWS FROM THE SMALL BUSINESS TECHNOLOGY COUNCIL

Newly enacted legislation, The National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2006, (Public Law 109-163) provides expanded access to commercialization funding.  The legislation creates a four-year Commercialization Pilot Program that will utilize the Phase III SBIR awards as funding vehicles.  Read more about this and other SBIR news in the Small Business Technology Council Report January 2006 .
