Buffalo

Dr. Kirven is an excellent clinician and instructor. Moreover, he was raised in Buffalo, Wyo. and returned to practice medicine in his hometown. He is an excellent example of the physician "giving back" to his community.
Chris Famy, 1997

Cody

I observed first hand what it's like to be the sole practitioner in a medical specialty in a rural area. I saw patient continuity of care in various situations.

Green River

I had the opportunity to work with a doctor who is dedicated to medicine in every aspect. I learned how to practice medicine in a rural area. Dr. Sloan demonstrated the capability to give a lot to his family, his patients, and his community.
Cara Oliver, 2000

I learned the necessity of having a functional and cooperative medical community in order for patient care to be at its best.
Tonya Blakemore, 1999

I gained a better understanding of what the life of a doctor in a small town entails. How busy his schedule was, how he balanced family, work, and community obligations.
Jason Quinn 1998

Lander

Each of the physicians were excellent teachers and role models. I was able to sharpen my clinical skills and broaden my medical knowledge. I also learned much about the practice of medicine in a rural area.
Paul Johnson, 2000

Dr. Tipton and the other physicians were very interested in where I was in my training so that I would be challenged yet not overwhelmed. I thought all the physicians I worked with treated their patients, colleagues and the nursing staff with the utmost respect. I appreciated how willing the physicians and PAs were to adjust their schedules in order for me to see patients with them.

Newcastle

Dr. Reimer's practice is full of variety. He sees everything from young kids to elderly folks. The variety also extends to the types of problems he treats. Dr. Reimer's partners and staff are very willing to teach and to let you learn a new technique while they look on ready to help should you need it.
Erin Cook, 2004

My preceptor works in a 3 MD, 3 PA family practice clinic. The MDs manage a number of complex, chronic patients, while the PAs tend to handle more walk in/sick kid stuff. The office also has a satellite clinic in Upton that is staffed by one MD or PA every afternoon.
Justina Bolz, 1997

Dr. Wurzel is great. He will let you do as much as you want. The hospital has many doctors who are willing to teach so there is always something interesting to do.
Bryon Hobby, 2004

Dr. Wurzel is a credit to R/UOP and WWAMI as a whole. He is an excellent teacher devoted to helping his students learn and to exhibiting his love of medicine.

Torrington

I learned the routine of daily family practice life along with the balance one can achieve between OB/ER/ hospital care/clinic - and family. Dr. Campbell answered all my questions. Every day we had time at lunch to discuss unusual cases or the course of a patient's care. Dr. Campbell and others do whatever they can to get you the experiences you want.
Molly Parker, 2000

I learned so much about the practice of medicine in a rural area that I can't  begin to list everything. This was an absolutely wonderful experience that all students should do!
Gerlinde Tynan-Cuisinier, 1998

Wheatland

This experience gave me a tremendous amount of confidence in my abilities. The staff at the doctor's office and at the hospital were accepting and wonderful to me. I was given the opportunity to fully experience all aspects of medical care.

Worland

One of the main points I learned from this R/UOP was the unique integrity of the patient-physician relationship in a rural community and the benefits and stresses that accompany it. I also came to appreciate even more how critical the relationship is between a rural setting and its health care system.
Michael Hejtmanek, 2000

I learned a lot about what it means to be a doctor in a rural area. I learned just how great the standard of care can be even when away from large, tertiary care facilities.
Heather Merry, 1999
