Student Comments

Great exposure to primary care in a small community! My preceptor helped arrange experiences in a wide variety of medical settings."
Cody Wagner, 2000

13,000 population and an elevation of 4000 ft - a huge town by Wyoming standards. Sheridan has a good hospital and a total of 20 or so physicians. It serves the North Central part of the state. Next to the beautiful Big Horn Mountains. No shopping mall - closest is 2 hours north in Billings, MT, or 2 hours south in Casper, WY.
Wendy Yeh, 1996

Location

Located near the Montana border in north-central Wyoming, Sheridan lies on the eastern edge of the Big Horn Mountains near the Big Horn National Forest. It is the county seat for Sheridan County. John D. Loucks drew up Sheridan's original 40-acre town site on the back of a piece of wrapping paper in the spring of 1882. Coal mines, ranching, and the railroad brought settlers to Sheridan soon after.
