Student Comments

I was pleasantly surprised at how much the medical community in Powell wanted to teach. I was welcome by all of the physicians and I felt comfortable approaching them with questions.
Rebecca Danforth, 1998

Dr. Wurzel is a credit to R/UOP and WWAMI as a whole. He is an excellent teacher devoted to helping his students learn and to exhibiting his love of medicine.
Christopher Montville, 1999

Location

Powell, Wyoming is located 75 miles from the east gate of Yellowstone National park in the Shoshone River valley between the Big Horn Mountains to the east and the Absarokas to the west. A predominately agricultural community, Powell grew due to homesteading and the flood irrigation system developed in the surrounding valley (now known as Powell Valley). Powell was named after John Wesley Powell who explored rivers throughout the Rocky Mountain Region.
