College of Education: Dual Major: Special Education/Elementary Education Curriculum
The undergraduate special education training program is designed to prepare teachers to successfully intervene with students who have learning and/or behavior problems. The program is competency based by means of course performance objectives, and emphasizes continuous practical experiences in which the demonstration of proficiency is required. In addition, the program is cross-categorical and operates by means of the prescriptive teaching model. The program is offered only during the academic year.
Majors in elementary education/special education must complete the professional education and all content requirements in elementary education. In addition, the following special education courses are required:
