UW RECOGNIZES GREEK ACHIEVEMENTS
May 9, 2003 -- Individuals and chapters were recognized for their leadership, scholarship and service contributions, during the 2002-2003 Greek Achievement Awards at the University of Wyoming.
The Interfraternity and Panhellenic councils, in partnership with the Office of Student Life, recognized the students and chapters. This year's individual recipients are:
Greek Man of the Year -- Casey Adams, Laramie, Pi Kappa Alpha.
Greek Woman of the Year -- Alisha Havens, Cheyenne, Kappa Kappa Gamma.
New Member of the Year, Fraternity -- Michael Gonzalez, Laramie, Pi Kappa Alpha.
New Member of the Year, Sorority -- Lindsey Lorello, Gillette, Pi Beta Phi.
Margaret C. Tobin Scholarship -- Samantha Muirhead, Casper, Delta Delta Delta.
Outstanding Chapter Advisers -- Dave Foreman, Sigma Nu, Julie Francis, Chi Omega, and Jeanne Jerden, Kappa Kappa Gamma.
Chapter awards were presented to:
Chi Omega -- Scholastic Achievement Award.
Delta Delta Delta -- Greek Excellence Award, Chapter Programming Award, Community Service Award.
Pi Kappa Alpha -- Progress Towards Excellence Award.
Sigma Alpha Epsilon -- Commitment to Diversity Award.
Sigma Phi Epsilon -- Scholastic Achievement Award, Chapter Programming Award.
"I am encouraged by the steady improvements I've seen from many of our fraternities and sororities this past year," says Matthew R. Caires, assistant dean of students. "As long as these groups continue to focus on the traditional fraternal values of leadership, scholarship, and service, I expect this positive growth to continue."
