About the clinic:

The mission of the Psychology Clinic is to provide affordable, quality mental health care to the campus community and area residents. As a training clinic for the Clinical Psychology Doctoral program at the University of Wyoming, all assessments and treatment at Psychology Clinic are conducted by graduate student therapists under the direct supervision of a licensed clinical psychologist. The Faculty/Psychologists in the Psychology Clinic embrace an integrated care model that promotes collaboration with the client and other health professionals who are involved in the client's care. Therapists specialize in the use of empirically supported treatments that have been developed based on psychological science.

Services provided:  

The Psychology Clinic provides both psychotherapy and assessment services for children and adults. Special areas of interest include, but are not limited to:

Psychotherapy:

  • Depression
  • Anxiety Disorders including
    • Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)
    • Panic Disorder
    • Obsessive Compulsive Disorder
    • Social Anxiety
    • Phobias
  • Health Related Problems (Child and Adult) including
    • Managing and improving chronic health problems such as HIV/AIDS,
      Diabetes, Asthma, chronic pain and medications
    • Weight Management and Smoking cessation
    • Adjustment to Medical Illness
  • Grief and Bereavement
  • Couples Problems
  • Childhood Behavior Problems, such as Defiance and Tantrums

Psychological Assessment:

  • Learning Disability Assessments
  • Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Assessments
  • Diagnoses of Psychological Disorders
  • Personality Assessments

Not all problems are appropriate for our training clinic and some cases may be referred elsewhere for services.

Research:

The Psychology Clinic is involved in furthering our understanding of Psychological problems and their treatments through research. Clients may be invited to participate in research projects. This participation is not required to receive services at the Psychology Clinic.

Fees:

At this time, there is no charge for therapy services at the Psychology Clinic. The fee for an assessment is $150.

Confidentiality:

In accordance with our professional ethics and state law, our services are confidential. We do not disclose the identity of our clients or anything concerning them without their written permission. We provide clients with written information about the exceptions to confidentiality. These circumstances involve our legal requirements to report child abuse and neglect and to protect someone who is threatened with physical harm. Preventing suicide is also a situation in which confidentiality may be broken.

Scheduling appointments:

To learn more about our services or arrange an intake appointment, please call the Psychology Clinic at (307) 766-2149. When you call, one of our staff will conduct a telephone intake interview in order to facilitate an appropriate client-therapist match. If no one is available, leave your name and phone number and we will contact you as soon as possible. The Psychology Clinic accepts new cases between September and April and has reduced staff during the summer months. In the case of an emergency, please contact Ivinson Memorial Hospital at (307) 742-0285.

Location:

We are located in Room 307 in the Biological Sciences building on the University of Wyoming Campus. The clinic is accessible to individuals with a physical disability. Map
