LEARNING OUTCOME 1
Students who graduate with a BA in Psychology should have a basic knowledge of Psychology and related fields.
Objectives Related to 1
Obj. 1. Students learn methods and theories used in psychology by taking appropriate lower-division course work including Introduction to Psychology, Statistics, and Research Methods and learn methods and theories used in at least 4 of the following areas of psychology: Biological, Developmental, Clinical, Social, and Cognitive.
Obj. 2. Students learn about fields related to psychology, including Biology, Statistics, Anthropology, and Sociology.
Obj. 3. Students learn to integrate knowledge from lower division classes in laboratory, writing intensive, and capstone classes.
Obj. 4. Students retain information learned in their courses.

Students participate in and are able to evaluate the assumptions, purposes, methods, and results of psychological research and scholarship.

Obj. 3. Students learn how to be producers of psychological research.

Students develop skills in teamwork, leadership, writing, speaking, and listening, especially concerning psychology-related topics.

Obj. 2. Students complete Psychology or other courses fulfilling the O, WB, and/or WC USP requirements.
Obj. 3. Students participate or fill leadership roles in Psi Chi/Psychology Club, extracurricular activities, or relevant community activities.

Students who graduate with a Ph.D. in Psychology from UW have professional and specialized training such that they can move into academic or non-academic careers.
Objectives Related to 1
Obj. 1. Graduate students aided by their research advisor, masters committee, and dissertation committee set up individualized programs of content courses, ensuring appropriate career track and specialization.
Obj. 2. Students attend/ participate in department colloquia, research days, department seminars, and other professional activities including professional conferences.
Obj. 3. Students participate in research groups where they learn about ethics, professional issues, and professional development.
Obj. 4. Students obtain college teaching experience to prepare for possible academic career.
Obj.5. Clinical students complete clinical training experiences (practicum, clerkship, supervision and predoctoral internship).

LEARNING OUTCOME 2.
Students who graduate with a Ph.D. in Psychology from UW will have masters thesis, comprehensive examination papers, and dissertation research experiences that result in professional publication(s), thereby contributing to the expansion of knowledge.
Objectives Related to 2
Obj. 1. Students complete coursework in research methods and statistics.
Obj. 2. Graduate students develop, implement, and complete original masters thesis and dissertations written at a publishable level under supervision of research advisor.
Obj. 3 With the assistance of their dissertation committees, students develop individualized comprehensive examinations, typically in the form of review papers of publication quality.

Students who graduate with a Ph.D. in Psychology from UW will have a breadth of knowledge across multiple areas of psychology and have critical thinking skills.
Objectives Related to 3
Obj. 1. Students will have a breadth of knowledge about the science of psychology, including biological, cognitive, developmental, and social psychology.
Obj. 2. Students will demonstrate critical thinking skills in written communication.
Obj. 3. Students will demonstrate critical thinking skills in oral communication.

1. Students will successfully complete graduate level courses in multiple areas of psychology.
2. Students will produce independent papers for the comprehensive examination that integrate a body of research.
3. Students will demonstrate critical thinking skills in their oral defenses of their masters thesis, comprehensive examination papers, and dissertation.
