Simpson Awards

Due to the generosity of the Simpson Fund, established in honor of former Wyoming Governor Milward Simpson to foster the study of political science, the department is able to offer several student awards. These awards will be announced at the annual Pi Sigma Alpha and Political Science Awards Banquet held every year. They include the following:

1. A Milward Simpson Scholarship awarded to an outstanding junior for use in his/her senior year. The scholarship is in the amount of resident tuition for two semesters. Milward Simpson Scholarship Application Form

2. One award for the Outstanding Graduate Paper written during the previous calendar year (spring, summer or fall). Outstanding Graduate Paper Application Form

3. One award for the Outstanding Undergraduate Paper written during the previous calendar year (spring, summer or fall). Outstanding Undergraduate Paper Application Form

Application forms for these awards are also available in the Political Science Main Office, A&S Room 136, or for more information call 307-766-6484.

Louis Leichtweis Scholarship

The Political Science Department also offers the Louis Leichtweis Scholarship. This scholarship is available to juniors in political science. The scholarship amount varies but usually is in the excess of $ 1,000. In order to be considered for this scholarship the student will need to prepare a short essay, maximum length 3 pages, explaining how the student's studies have helped in the understanding and possible contribution to the peaceful management and resolution of international conflicts.
