Professor George Sher

About the Speaker: George Sher, the Herbert S. Autrey Professor of Philosophy at Rice University, received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Brandeis University in 1964 and a Ph.D. in Philosophy from Columbia University in 1972. He is the recipient of numerous honors, awards and grants for his work in ethics, social philosophy and political philosophy. He has authored several major journal articles and papers, including “Moral Education and Indoctrination” (coauthored with William J. Bennett), ”But I Could Be Wrong,” “Diversity,” and “Justifying Reverse Discrimination in Employment.” He has authored several books, including Desert (Princeton University Press, 1987) and Beyond Neutrality: Perfectionism and Politics (Cambridge University Press, 1997).
