Father David Adams, a 1980 UW philosophy graduate, died June 26 in Lincroft, New Jersey, where he was parochial vicar of the church of St. Leo the Great.

David was a delightful and ever-curious student with an impish sense of humor who became a serious and solid man, with a strong sense of social responsibility.

One of his major concerns as a priest was the reconciliation of Christians and Jews.  Last year he sent me clippings of his work on this vitally important matter, and we corresponded afterward on the subject.  He despised any form of anti-Semitism and worked hard to eliminate it wherever he could.  Besides serving several parishes in New Jersey, he also served as a hospital and prison chaplain.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Leo’s Social Concerns Ministry, 50 Hurleys Lane, Lincroft, N.J. 07738

I remember Father David with admiration and great affection.
