How to apply
to the masters program in philosophy.

 

To guarantee consideration, materials must be received by the February 1st deadline.  However, later applications will be considered dependent on availability of graduate slots, which may extend throughout the summer.

The following materials should be sent directly to the Department of Philosophy:

  • Letter of Application for admission

  • Writing Sample  (a paper on any topic in philosophy; not to exceed 3,000 words)

  • Statement of Purpose (detail your interests in philosophy and why you would like to join our program; not to exceed two pages)

  • Graduate Assistant Application form

  • All of the above may be submitted in an electronic form (preferably in pdf format, but other formats are acceptable). Send as an attachment by e-mail to: fpg@uwyo.edu

     

  • Transcripts (can be unofficial at first)

  • GRE scores (official)

  • For Non-Native English speakers only, TOEFL scores required.

  • Three confidential letters of recommendation (not older than one year; preferably from philosophy faculty). Letter of Recommendation form will need to be attached to recommendation letters.

  • Please send all application materials not submitted vie e-mail directly to the department. As well, recommendation letters need to use the following address:

    The $50 fee is not required until the candidate has been admitted to the program, in which case an official application form and fee will need to be submitted.
