How to apply

  • The University Of Wyoming School Of Pharmacy only accepts applications through the centralized application service PharmCAS (www.PharmCAS.org).
  • Please check the UW School of Pharmacy school page on PharmCAS for more information.
  • Our application deadline is January 4, 2008, however students are strongly encouraged to complete their application and submit it to PharmCAS no later than December 1, 2007, in order to facilitate processing at the university level.
  • It is the student's responsibility to check up on their application with PharmCAS and make sure it's sent to the University of Wyoming in a timely manner.
  • We require the Pharmacy College Admission Test or PCAT and do not accept the January 2008 test for this application period. October 2007 is the last eligible test for our admission process. Select PharmCAS code 104 when registering for the PCAT.

Admissions FAQ (Frequently Asked questions)

 

  1. When is the application deadline?  All materials must be submitted to PharmCAS no later than January 4, 2008. 
  2. When can I start applying for fall 2008? You may begin your application process through PharmCAS beginning June 1, 2007.
  3. Do you require the PCAT?  Yes. All scores must be sent to PharmCAS.
  4. Do you accept the January PCAT?  No. The January PCAT is offered several weeks past our deadline.  October is the latest test you can take.
  5. What if I want to repeat my PCAT in January?  We do not accept the January PCAT for admissions, your repeated score will not be considered.
  6. How do you get my PCAT scores?  We only accept PCAT scores submitted through PharmCAS.
  7. What is your minimum GPA in order to apply? A student must have 2.8 cumulative GPA in order to apply to the University of Wyoming School of Pharmacy, however in order to be a competitive applicant your GPA should be closer to 3.5.
  8. I didn’t submit my PCAT scores to PharmCAS when I tested what do I do? Contact Harcourt and have them send your scores to PharmCAS, there will probably be an additional fee.
  9. Do you require letters of recommendation? If so how many? Yes. We require a maximum of 2 letters of recommendation.
  10. May I submit more than 2 letters? No. Only 2 letters are read by committee.
  11. Who should my letters be from? Professors, employers or a Health Care Professional who can demonstrate knowledge of your academics and work ethic.
  12. Do you have a supplemental application?  No. We only require the PharmCAS application at this point.
  13. My school does not offer the US and Wyoming Government class what should I do?  You will take this class at UW; our only prerequisites are the science and math.
  14. How competitive is your program? Our application ratio is 11 to 1, for every seat we have we have approximately 11 students competing for it.

    3. General Chemistry I & II with labs
    4. Organic Chemistry I & II with labs

    9. Fundamentals of Statistics
    10. A minimum of 67 semester hours
    11. We require the PCAT

  2. Can I get a transcript review?
    The School of Pharmacy charges $40 for a transcript review. Please send a copy of your transcript, a check for $40.00 and a self-addressed envelope to:

  3. Do you have an age limit on coursework?
    Yes. We will not accept transcripts/coursework older than 7 years.

It is the student's responsibility to check on their PCAT scores and make sure that PharmCAS receives them in a timely manner. The student is required to obtain a maximum of 2 letters of recommendation that come from a professor, employer, or health care professional, we do not accept letters from family, friends or clergy. There is no need to submit more than 2 letters as only 2 letters will go to committee. All application material should be sent to PharmCAS, any material sent directly to the University of Wyoming, unless directly requested, will be disposed of. We do not require a supplemental application. Students should note that all admissions correspondence including acceptance and denial letters will be through email.
