PeopleSoft Overview

PeopleSoft, Inc. is an ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) software company that provides software components to help organizations in the areas of human resource management, financial management, supply chain management, customer relationship management, student information management, and other areas related to many different industries. Founded in 1987, PeopleSoft developed a client/server human resource management system and went on to gain a majority of the market share in this segment. As it continued to add functionality to compete with the likes of SAP, Oracle and others, PeopleSoft has continued to grow and its products have continued to mature.

In 2000, PeopleSoft released new versions of all its products, dubbed PeopleSoft 8. Taking advantage of an Internet-based architecture, PeopleSoft rewrote all its applications to work without any software necessary on the client computer. PeopleSoft continues to be a major player in the ERP arena.
