Faculty Diversity Enhancement
PACMWA is soliciting proposals to impact faculty recruitment, retention and research efforts at the University of Wyoming.  We will consider requests up to $2,000 per proposal. Program Directors, Department Heads, and Deans are especially encouraged to apply on behalf of faculty members, and individual faculty members are also welcome to apply.

PACMWA’s initiative is designed to enhance diversity. To this end, PACMWA is soliciting proposals from Academic Units for funds that would facilitate recruitment and retention of candidates from underrepresented groups into permanent, or potentially permanent, faculty positions and to support the research efforts of current minority and women faculty.  Examples of possible proposals could include the following:

  • Recruitment activities targeted at diversity hiring and which will produce concrete results.
  • Assistance with recruitment efforts, such as advertising in publications that target minority and women scholars, or, for the distribution of UW recruitment materials.
  • Initiatives designed to reallocate teaching loads for newly hired minority and women faculty members.
  • Initiatives designed to enhance travel and research funding, or other retention efforts, for minority and women faculty members.
  • Other ideas that advance the recruitment and retention of underrepresented groups.

Applicants are expected to show matching funds—from their program, department, and/or college—for their requests.

Funds for this call for proposals are limited and will be distributed on a "first come, first serve" basis.  PACMWA reserves the right to fund proposals completely, partially, or not at all. Decisions will be made on the basis of the proposal's prospects for meeting the goals for this initiative. PACMWA is particularly interested in proposals that produce concrete results.

To be considered, proposals must include:

  • A narrative describing how the proposed initiative will improve efforts to diversify University faculty.
  • A budget, including amount and sources of matching funds
  • A statement identifying the individual responsible for administering the initiative

Questions regarding this call and all proposals (electronic submission requested) should be sent to:
