  3. UW Application & Admission

    • In order to receive a UW transfer evaluation that will list how previous coursework is being transferred to UW, you will first need to be admitted to the University of Wyoming as a NUBS major (this is the coding used for the RN/BSN Completion Track students). Click into the UW Admissions web site link below to apply online or email/call them as directed on their web page.

    • The University Registrar's Office will complete a transcript evaluation once you have been accepted to the University, and will notify you of the results. The University does not provide transcript evaluations for students with prior baccalaureate degree.

  4. School of Nursing Application & Fee

    1. School of Nursing Application

      Admission is required to both the University of Wyoming AND to the School of Nursing. After you receive your admission letter from the UW Admissions Office and have reviewed your transcript evaluation performed by the Registrar's Office, please complete our School of Nursing application by clicking into the link below.

    2. School of Nursing Application Fee

      • You will have the opportunity to pay the $30 RN/BSN Application Fee when you submit your application online (see "a." above)

      • You may pay the application fee now online by clicking HERE
        OR
      • You may send in your payment ($30 check or money order made payable to Fay W. Whitney School of Nursing) to the following address:

  5. School of Nursing Admission

    Your application will be reviewed and you will be provided with a program of study (that lists courses you will need to complete to earn a BSN degree) after we receive the following:

    • your online School of Nursing RN/BSN Track Application submission (step 4 above)
    • your School of Nursing application fee of $30
    • a copy of your current RN licensure
    • and verification of UW admission

    The following are application deadlines. (Postmarks do not meet the application deadline):

    • Fall semester: June 1
    • Spring semester: October 1
    • Summer semester: February 1

    All students accepted by the School of Nursing are offered admission contingent upon successful completion of criminal background check. (The UW College of Health Sciences requires a background check through a specific company. That information will be given to the student in their admission letter.) Once completion of the background check has been verified, students are formally admitted to the School of Nursing major component. Students will be alerted through admission letters regarding when and where to obtain the criminal background check; please do not begin process until asked to do so by the School of Nursing.

    For students with outstanding prerequisite courses, students are designated as pre-nursing and assigned an advisor. Formal admission may be requested by the student within one year of initial application to the School of Nursing and verification of successful completion of all prerequisite courses.

  11. FAQs

    • How many clinical hours will be required in the RN/BSN program?
      - 120 clinical hours in addition to the 60 hours of coursework will be required for the 4 credit hours of the final practicum, NURS 4875 (the only clinical course)
    • Can I complete my clinical hours locally?
      - It is your responsibility to arrange clinical at a Public Health agency in your area. We will work to obtain a contract with that agency. Once all that is in place, you will be able to complete your clinical hours locally.
    • How quickly can I get through your program?
      - Once you have completed the prerequisite coursework, you can complete the program in one (1) calendar year (fall, spring and summer).
