(Bachelor of Science in Nursing)

  1. Malpractice Insurance

You must carry your own malpractice insurance to level of RN licensure throughout the NURS 4875 clinical course. The University of Wyoming also provides limited liability coverage for nursing students when they are in clinical settings. To verify insurance, submit copy of page(s) from policy (usually "Certificate of Insurance") indicating insurance provider, your name, policy number, dates and amount of coverage to the School of Nursing. Copies of insurance cards or payment receipts are NOT acceptable. The insurance company can take up to 6 weeks to issue a policy, so apply early. The School of Nursing does not accept verbal verification.

  2. RN Licensure

You need to keep your RN licensure current with our office by providing updated copies of your active, unencumbered RN license for the state in which you will be doing clinicals/practicum.

  3. Miscellaneous Information

    • Physical Requirements

All nursing students must be able to perform the essential functions of a nurse. Reasonable accommodations will be afforded to disabled student nurses as required under the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990. A student who can no longer perform the essential functions of a nurse must report that to the School of Nursing Dean and suggest any accommodations that they feel will enable them to perform as a nurse. The School of Nursing Dean will determine if the suggested accommodations are reasonable or if there are any other reasonable accommodations that can be made. If reasonable accommodations can not be made, the student will not be able to remain in the nursing program.
