Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner Certificate - Adult (CER-PMHN)
 

 


The fully accredited PMHNP Certificate program option provides the Advanced Practice Nurse (APN) who already has a master's degree in nursing the opportunity to become a psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner. To be eligible for admission to the Post-master’s track a prospective students must:

  • Have a master’s degree in nursing

  • Have taken graduate level courses in

    • Advanced health assessment

    • Advanced pharmacology

    • Advanced pathophysiology

The emphasis of this program option is on courses that prepare the nurse for advanced practice with individuals and families throughout the lifespan. Clinical practice is a major component of the program. After completion of those courses specified for PMHNP's, the student is eligible to take the national certifying examinations.
