Registration . . .

...for Online Courses
for Non-Degree-Seeking
Graduate Students

You will need to follow these instructions if you find yourself in one of the following situations:

  • If you are applying to one of our MS Program options and need our bridge courses (N3010, N3020, N4240/5060) to complete your application packet. [Note:  N4240 or N5060 can be taken concurrently once accepted into program; N3010 and N3020 must be completed prior to starting the program. These courses are only needed by registered nurses whose baccalaureate degree was not in nursing.]
  • If you want to take one/a few graduate nursing courses, but are not an officially admitted MS nursing student [note that you can only take up to 12 credit hours as a non-degree-seeking graduate student and be able to potentially transfer those credits into a degree program]
  • If you have been officially admitted to one of our MS Program or Certificate Program (Post-Master's) options, but want to take a class PRIOR to the semester for which you have been granted admission
  1. Apply to Graduate School

You will need to submit the Graduate School's Non Degree Seeking Application for the semester in which you wish to take a class (even if you are just taking the undergraduate nursing bridge courses)

  2. Fill out Petition

The majority of the graduate nursing courses as well as the undergraduate nursing bridge courses have controlled enrollment. Therefore, non-degree-seeking graduate students are required to submit a petition seeking consent for online enrollment in graduate nursing and undergraduate nursing bridge courses.

    • Go to http://outreach.uwyo.edu/occ/OutreachCourse/petition_generic.asp
    • Fill out the petition, noting the following:
      • name and number of the course you wish to take
      • which semester you are wanting to take the course (fall, spring or summer and the year - Fall 2008 for example)
      • the reason why you want to take the course
    • For Undergraduate Nursing Bridge Courses petitioning, you will need to send a copy of your current, unencumbered RN licensure to the RN/BSN Completion Office by email at RN.bsn@uwyo.edu or by fax to 307-766-4294.
  3. Petition Notification

    • Graduate Nursing Courses:
You will be notified within the 2 weeks prior to the start of the semester as to whether or not you may register in the graduate nursing course(s) petitioned. Notifications will be made through email address identified on your petition.
    • Undergraduate Nursing Bridge Courses:
As soon as your petition has been received and processed, you will be notified whether or not you may register in the undergraduate nursing bridge course(s) petitioned. Notifications will be made through email address identified on your petition.
  4. Register for courses

    • You will receive directions for registering on WyoWeb from the UW Graduate School once they grant you admission following receipt of your non-degree-seeking graduate application.
    • You will need to wait to register until the official registration period opens up for whatever semester you want to apply.
      • Registration for Summer and Fall 2008 classes begins March 31, 2008.
    • Graduate Nursing Courses:
Students are not able to register in these courses without special approval having been placed in the system on that individual's record. Enrollment is on a space available basis. School of Nursing staff will be placing an override in the system on your student record that will allow you to register for the course(s) petitioned and for which you have been granted permission to take.
    • Undergraduate Nursing Bridge Courses:
When registering for these controlled enrollment courses through WyoWeb, students will be required to sign up for a waitlist. School of Nursing staff will finalize enrollment for the courses petitioned and for which you have been granted permission to take. Be sure to monitor your enrollment status through WyoWeb on all waitlisted courses.
