Students admitted to the Master's Program and Certificate Program (Post-Master's) in Nursing have first consideration for enrollment in graduate nursing courses. However, even admitted students may not be guaranteed a seat in the course if they have not registered early enough once their registration access begins through WyoWeb.
The majority of the graduate nursing courses have controlled enrollment. Effective with the fall 2008 registration, the School of Nursing will be handling controlled enrollment differently for graduate nursing courses.
We will no longer be utilizing a waitlisted system for controlled enrollment.
Graduate nursing courses that have a controlled enrollment status will require ‘Special Approval’ in order to be able to register for the course in any capacity. School of Nursing staff will be placing an override in the system on each individual student’s record that will allow them to register for specific courses based on their Plan of Study.
Based on this process, it is important that students are following the Plan of Study which they selected at admission for completion of program requirements and take courses in the correct sequence/semester as identified within that selected Plan of Study.
Students who are seeking exceptions to their Plan of Study must work with their advisor and Debbie Shoefelt to see if exceptions may be possible.
For example, your Plan of Study identifies that you should be taking NURS 5010 in the spring semester and you find that it may work better for you to take the course in the fall. If you attempted to register for the course, you would receive an error message indicating that ‘Special Approval’ was required and would be blocked from registering for the course. You would have to contact your advisor and Debbie Shoefelt to see if this would be possible and would there be space in the fall class for you. If the exception were granted, an override would be placed on the system within your record which would then allow you to register for that course.
Nurse Educator students, registration in the required ADED/ITEC courses currently remains the same whereas, initially placed on the waitlist for the course; waitlists monitored through their office; students moved into course based on eligibility/space.
When you attempt to register for the course, it will identify that the course is closed; you will be given the option of adding yourself to the waitlist.
Be sure that you add yourself to the waitlist by clicking on waitlist and submitting the registration request a 2nd time; be sure to accept this option as it is not automatic.
Be sure to monitor your enrollment status through WyoWeb on all waitlisted courses.
We strongly encourage all graduate students to be advised during the scheduled Advising Week and registered early in order to avoid complications.
Registrations of admitted/continuing graduate nursing students must be completed no later than 2 weeks prior to the start of the semester in which registering for. After that time period, overrides will be removed from those students who have not yet registered and registration requests from others will be evaluated for potential placement into graduate nursing courses.
Admitted/continuing students, who fail to register by the time period specified above, will need to contact Debbie Shoefelt to seek registration potential into their required courses. These will be considered on a space available basis.

Your “W” number is your student identification number. It is a randomly assigned 8-digit number preceded by a W.
Your “W” number may be found on WyoWeb. Go to the “Student Resources” tab and click any of the links in the “Registration Tools” channel. Your “W” number may be found beneath your name in the upper right corner of the screen.
Your “W” number replaces your social security number as your student identification number. You will need it whenever you fill out petitions, cash a check at the Cashier’s Office, speak to Student Financial Aid, and speak to the Registrar’s Office. You do not need to know your “W” number to enroll in classes.
