- 2009: Somlyay is involved with the Center for the Application of Substance Abuse Technologies (CASAT) program at the University of Nevada, Reno. The center received funding from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to become a regional training center in the area of Fetal Alcohol Syndrome. The overall goal of the new center, The Frontier Regional FASD Training Center, is to increase the capacity of the health workforce, especially nurses and social workers, to prevent, identify, refer and care for individuals and their families impacted by FASD. Somlyay will help create a Fetal Alcohol Syndrome (FASD)-specific curriculum infusion packet for integration into undergraduate and graduate educational programs.
