WHEN TO APPLY:
 

You apply to the School of Nursing when your prerequisites for our program are about to be completed, usually during the spring of your sophomore year. APPLICATION DEADLINE FEBRUARY 1. (Postmarks do not meet the application deadline.) Applications are revised annually and are normally available by mid-DECEMBER for the following fall admission. The Fall 2008 application materials are now linked below.

ADMISSION CRITERIA:

Criteria for admission to the nursing major component of the Basic BSN include, but are not limited to:

  1. Completion of course prerequisites by the end of the spring semester prior to the fall in which seeking admission

  2. Students must have a C or better in all required courses and a minimum nursing grade point average (NGPA) of 2.5 calculated on all prerequisite courses; however, this does not guarantee progression to the nursing major component

  3. Personal Essay (applicants will be asked to address specific questions/topics)

  4. School of Nursing Basic BSN Recommendation Forms

  5. Active CNA Certification (or LPN Licensure)

APPLICATION PACKET:

A completed application means that the Applicant has completed and provided the following by the February 1 deadline. (Please refer to the Basic BSN Admission Application - #1 below - for in-depth details related to each application packet item along with additional information / expectations applicable to this application/admission process.)

  1. Fall 2008 School of Nursing Basic BSN Admission Application

    (select the file format below that works best for your computer system)

  2. School of Nursing application fee ($30.00) - nonrefundable

    (Note: if you requested a transcript evaluation and paid the $30 transcript evaluation fee previously to the School of Nursing, your application fee will be waived. If you are unsure if you paid that fee, email shoefelt@uwyo.edu and staff will check records to let you know.)

    Pay your $30 application fee either by

    • check (made payable to "Fay W. Whitney School of Nursing") and submitted with application packet

      OR

    • paying ONLINE (click here)

  3. Personal Essay

    Applicants are asked to address specific questions/topics (see application)

  4. School of Nursing Basic BSN Recommendation Form

    Applicants are asked to provide 2 letters (see application)

  5. Photocopy of active CNA Certification or LPN Licensure

  6. Official transcripts

    ... from all colleges/universities previously attended and currently attending through the just-completed fall semester (see application)

  7. University of Wyoming Application

    Applied and admitted to University of Wyoming (declared major - NURS)
    [UW has a separate application/fee.]

    • Current UW students will have already completed this step.

    • New transfer students will need to complete this requirement (if not already done).

      • UW admission application/fee must be submitted and posted into the UW system prior to the February 1 deadline for the School of Nursing; preferably admission status finalized by UW Admissions Office prior to February 1 deadline.

    Complete University of Wyoming application in the fall semester before the February 1st School of Nursing application deadline. It is important for you to know what the University of Wyoming requires regarding admission criteria.  Call or email University of Wyoming Admissions Office for an application:
