One Student's Experience with "Online UW" Learning...
|
When I began my studies through Online UW, I was impressed with the ease of application, registration, ordering books, and the personal attention that I received from the school of nursing staff. The technology employed by the university makes the course delivery method basically transparent so that the focus is on coursework and interaction rather than on the specifics of how that coursework and interaction are completed.
I have now completed five courses toward the nurse educator degree through Online UW. In each course I have found the content to be complete and thorough, challenging, and thought-provoking. The quality of instruction is outstanding! There is a very high level of instructor-student interaction. My experience with the University of Wyoming has been that everyone associated with the university treats students as adult learners, with dignity, caring, and respect. Instructor facilitation of group discussions in virtual classrooms has encouraged participation from students in a way that challenges them to think and share ideas and perceptions. The one-on-one interaction with instructors through e-mail or voice communication has consistently been very respectful, supportive, and encouraging. Rather than just teaching facts, they focus on developing a comprehensive knowledge base and critical thinking skills. They are not only preparing us to be nurse educators through coursework, they are teaching and demonstrating the principles and application of nursing education through their practice and interactions with the students.
