The Fay W. Whitney School of Nursing at the University of Wyoming requires students to hold CPR certification for clinical placement. Our school will accept only two CPR cards:
CPR for the Professional Rescuer (CPR/FPR) through American Red Cross
OR
Healthcare Provider (BLS) through American Heart Association
If you are in Laramie, the University of Wyoming Community Enrichment Program holds classes at times throughout the semester with the Red Cross CPR for the Professional Rescuer classes. Go to: http://outreach.uwyo.edu/enrichment/. Class listings will be posted at their site close to the beginning of that semester.
Summit Home Health often holds classes for the American Heart Association certification (make sure you are getting the Healthcare Provider class)
Some hospitals offer CPR courses. Call and ask to speak to someone in the Education department for that hospital.
If you are out of town, call American Heart Association or American Red Cross by looking for a listing in your local phone book. They should be able to tell you what courses will be offered in your area and when.
You can also Google "American Heart Association Wyoming" and will get contact information for the Cheyenne and Casper offices. They should be able to tell you where CPR classes are being held and where you may be able to get a class with the certification that you need.
