    While growing up on a lake in northern Wisconsin, Dr. Rebecca Boehm-Shaffer made the trek to Bloomington, Indiana to study with her first horn teacher, Philip Farkas.  Recently earning her Doctor of Arts degree in Horn Performance and Pedagogy and Music History from the University of Northern Colorado, she has performed solos, chamber music and in recording studios, opera and symphony orchestras across the country with many artists including Robert Shaw, Tony Bennett, Roberta Peters and Jan Peerce, Metallica, and Ray Charles.  She studied with Douglas Hill while earning her MM from the University of Wisconsin in Madison, then David Jolley in New York, and Jerry Folsom in Los Angeles.  She was coached by Marcel Moyse while attending his chamber music seminar in Brattleboro, VT.

    Dr. Boehm Shaffer teaches horn at the University of Wyoming.  In addition, she is an active freelancer in the northern Colorado, southern Wyoming area performing with the Fort Collins and Cheyenne Symphonies, and the Northern Wind Quintet.  She has taught horn, horn choir and music history at Weber State and Salt Lake Community College in Utah and the University of Nevada at Las Vegas and the Community College of Southern Nevada.  She, her husband, and two daughters live near the Poudre River Trail and enjoy biking, hiking, camping and making music.
