Dr. Larry Hensel,
Director

UW Opera Theatre and the Department of Theatre and Dance announce its
spring 2009 opera production, a double bill of 20th century one-acts. The
Medium by Gian Carlo Menotti will feature Dr.
Katrina Zook in the title role of
“Madame Flora,” and Professor
Maureen Sorensson as “Monica.” The Medium will be followed by
Giacomo Puccini’s delightful and lively comedy Gianni Schicchi, updated to a
beautiful and romantic turn-of–the 20th century setting.
Please see the Vocal Arts Bulletin Board in the Music Department for

Mission Statement
UW Opera Theatre is dedicated to providing a meaningful and
imaginative theatrical and musical experience for all singers at the
University of Wyoming. Majors in any discipline who demonstrate
vocal beauty, dramatic skills and overwhelming enthusiasm are
encouraged to participate. Its long-term goal is to make a
significant artistic contribution to the University community, and
to enhance the cultural vitality of the State.
Opera Theatre’s primary aim is to train students to
blend the complex arts of movement and singing into a meaningful and
communicative artistic “moment.” We strive to instill a respect and
dedication for all music theatre forms, and to inspire a strong sense of the
artist’s role in society.
