In 1993, the UW's Political Science Department forged an exchange program with the School of Public Management at South Africa's University of Stellenbosch.
The primary objective of the partnership is to provide opportunities for faculty and students at both institutions to study and research abroad.
Stellenbosch is the wine capital of South Africa. It is located
in the Western Cape, between the Indian and Atlantic Oceans. In
addition to the spectacular scenery, the area has a great deal to offer
visiting students.
The local community supports a multitude of
museums, theaters, art galleries and conservatories.
Approximately 14,500 students attend the University of Stellenbosch. Although the home language of the students is Afrikaans, most are able to converse in English. Students visiting the country should expect to experience a wonderfully diverse atmosphere.
"This Exchange provides an outstanding opportunity for students to live and study on the African continent. South Africa is a society in transition, and this exchange allows the study of that transition first hand."~ Dr. Larry Hubbell ~ |
This program allows students to receive academic credit at Stellenbosch, South Africa. Applicants must gain the approval of both institutions in regard to their degree program.
Each student accepted will be expected to participate in the host institution at the same level of competency as any other student of the host institution who is a foreign national.
