Research Interests:
Tracy
was born in
Beaumont
,
Texas
and grew up in various parts of
Oklahoma
and
Texas
. She received her B.A. in Government from the
University
of
Texas
at
Austin
in 1992. After graduation, she
attended law school in
Houston
,
Texas
and decided after a year to pursue other avenues. She returned to school in
1994 when she moved to
Lubbock,
Texas
to attend
Texas
Tech
University
. She received her Master of Public Administration in 1995 and her Ph.D. in 2000
from the Department of Political Science at
Texas
Tech
University
with concentrations in public administration and public policy.
During the final year of her dissertation work,
Tracy
taught as a visiting professor in the MPA program at
Western
Carolina
University
in the mountains of
North Carolina
. After completing her one year
appointment, she was hired as an assistant professor at
Stephen
F.
Austin
State
University
where she taught for three years in the Department of Political Science and
Geography. She joined the Department of Political Science at the
University
of
Wyoming
in 2003 where she teaches courses in the MPA program, including public policy
and ethics in government.
Her research interests include environmental politics and
issues surrounding gaming on Native American reservations in the southwest.
She has published articles in American Review of Public Administration,
State and Local Government Review and The North American Geographer.
