a) Interested students must apply to the Law School and
apply to the MPA Program and Graduate School.
This includes paying the $50
application fee if the student has not already done so.
b) Students must be successfully admitted to both the
Law School and the MPA program.
II. Program of Study
a) Up to 12 hours of Law Courses can count toward the MPA electives with approval from the MPA Director and the College
of Law. b) Students must complete all other MPA requirements
seprately. c) No Law courses may be substituted for Core or
Option-Core MPA courses.
III. Graduation
a) The students in the MPA/JD joint degree program are
not required to complete the requirements for both degrees simultaneously
to be awarded the joint MPA/JD degree. b) All Graduate Faculty Regulations will apply to all the
courses on the MPA/JD degree Program of Study including the six-year
rule. c) MPA/JD students will be required to finish the same
graduation requirements as all other graduate students.
IV. Degree Conferral
a) Two separate degrees will be posted with a note at
the bottom of the Graduate Transcript indicating the number of law hours
accepted as electives toward the joint MPA/JD degree. b) This note is necessary because a student using the
maximum allowed law hours as electives will not meet the 30 cumulative
hours on the Graduate Transcript required for a master's degree as required
by
Graduate Faculty Regulation. c) This will be the only indication on the student's
transcript that they were pursuing the joint MPA/JD degree.
