Research Interests:

Dr. Larry Hubbell is a professor in the Political Science Department. He has been a member of the Department since 1989. Larry received his BA degree in International Studies from American University in 1973; his Master's Degree in Political Science from the University of Illinois at Chicago in 1975; and his Ph.D. in Public Administration from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University in 1990. Larry primarily teaches public personnel management, organization theory, and organizational development.

Prior to coming to the University of Wyoming, Larry was a federal employee for eleven years, working primarily for ACTION and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. In this capacity he served as a program and budget analyst and worked directly for political appointees of the Carter, Reagan and Bush administrations. Larry and his wife also owned and operated the Tamworth Inn in Tamworth New Hampshire for three years in the early 1980s.

In the 1997-98 academic year, Larry won the University's Seibold Award and spent the year conducting research in Russia, Italy, and South Africa. In his research, he analyzed how Russia and South Africa were coping as emerging democracies. Larry is widely published, having thirty refereed publications in the following journals: Administration and Society, American Review of Public Administration, The Public Manager, Public Administration Quarterly, Public Voices, Public Productivity Review, Humanity and Society, and  Adminstratio Publica.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Little Know Facts About Larry:

▪  During 1997-1998 Larry wrote a full length novel entitled "Almost Dysfunctional".

▪  When he was an innkeeper, Larry had his own rock and roll band.  His name was "Leapin' Larry" and his band was called "The Homewreckers".
