Prospective students explore UW College of Law during Admitted Student Day

On May 2nd, the College of Law, for the first time ever, held an open house for its admitted students―attracting more than 62 students and their guests to the campus to participate in topical sessions, tour the campus, meet with professors, and introduce students to the Wyoming legal community. Prospective students got an inside view of life at UW College of Law and an opportunity to meet UW alumni.

During the morning session on Admitted Student Day, prospective students experienced UW’s “sensible insight” firsthand at a presentation by Associate Professor of Law and Director of Academic Support Program Michael C. Duff on Academics and Personal Assessment: Transitioning to Law school and summer Preparation. A class simulation was taught by Professors Debora Person. Students also heard about what law school is really like from a panel of current UW students consisting of the Potter Law Club president and three student clinical directors.

Students and their guests from throughout the United States met Wyoming Supreme Court Justice William U. Hill, faculty, staff, alumni, and current UW students at the event designed to help them learn more about UW College of Law. The day concluded with a reception in the UW Fine Arts foyer sponsored by Crowley Fleck PLLP; Dray, Thomson & Dyekman, P.C.; Holland & Hart LLP; Long Reimer Winegar LLP; and The Spence Law Firm. Alumni joined the reception after attending an Ethics CLE given by Carl M. Williams Professor of Law & Ethics and Director of Legal Services Program John M. Burman.

Admitted Student Day is an occasion for newly admitted students to see firsthand what educational opportunities UW has to offer, ask questions, check out our new facilities, while giving future 1Ls maximum opportunity to learn more about the Law School and interact with its outstanding alumni. It is an excellent opportunity for them to determine if the ‘fit’ is right for them at UW.
