At first, it was intimidating to organize the health care symposium. I imagined myself in an ocean trying to swim to the shore without a sense of direction. However, Assistant Dean Denise Burke provided us with that logistical direction. The students still had the task of narrowing down the issues to be addressed during the symposium. While this was a hard task, Darci Arsene, Aaron Bieber and I brainstormed and came up with the issue of patient safety.

Even though the whole task of organizing the symposium was time-consuming, we had a wonderful team. We met regularly to address the logistical issues of the past week. The synergy that was present in our meetings was a critical success factor for the planning of the symposium. In addition, Darci’s and Aaron’s leadership was indispensible to the success of the symposium. Lisa Nunley and Jackie Robinson were instrumental in organizational matters pertaining to scheduling issues. Edward Havugimana monitored the technology during the symposium and we send a special thank you to him for his help.

Finally, from April 1 to April 3, the incoming and outgoing Wyoming Law Review Editorial Board Members contributed immensely to the success of the symposium. I think the organization of our symposium was a wonderful example of team effort. Even though I was intimidated in the beginning, I had a sense of accomplishment in the end. The Wyoming Law Review provided a forum to discuss issues of national importance. I am very proud of our team and our accomplishments.
