Dean Parkinson Visits UWNA Members in Denver
Dean Jerry Parkinson presented a talk at the UW National Ambassadors’ Denver Breakfast Series on April 16, 2008. The dean’s talk on "NCAA Scoundrels: An Insider’s Perspective on the Infractions and Enforcement Process" led to a lively discussion among attendees. Dean Parkinson is in his eighth year as a member of the NCAA Division I Committee on Infractions, which hears cases involving alleged NCAA rule-breakers: institutions, coaches and other university personnel, boosters, and student-athletes. The committee determines whether violations have occurred and imposes penalties on violators. Dean Parkinson provided an overview of the NCAA enforcement process, including a discussion of NCAA rules, common types of violations, and current trends.
The UWNA's Breakfast Series is one of many UWNA events aimed at connecting UW alumni in the Denver area. The College of Law encourages its Denver-area alumni to attend a UWNA event. “UWNA fosters an amazing network of alumni from a variety of disciplines. It is a great way for graduates to stay connected to and support their alma mater while enjoying new professional relationships with fellow alumni,” said Jill Higham, Director of Development at the UW College of Law. UWNA is active all over the nation. Check out the UWNA website to find an event near you!
The UWNA breakfasts are held monthly throughout the year, with breaks for holidays and summer.
