2007 Rudolph Lecture by Joseph J. Perkins, Jr., E. George Rudolph Distinguished Visiting Chair in Law Landscape as Memory, Mirror, and Lens: One Lawyer's Look at Three Centuries of Public Land Law and Natural Resources Law |

On Tuesday, March 27, 207, Joseph (Joe) J. Perkins, Jr., E. George Rudolph Distinguished Visiting Chair in Law (Rudolph Chair), will present the Rudolph Lecture in Room 142 at the University of Wyoming College of Law at 5:30 p.m. The lecture is free and open to the public. A reception will follow. Joe Perkins's is a graduate of University of Denver (J.D. 1979) and Princeton University (B.S.E., magna cum laude, 1976). His areas of expertise are in natural resources law mining law, oil and gas law, Alaska Native Claims Settlement Act, commercial transactions and environmental law. He is currently the E. George Rudolph Distinguished Visiting Chair in Law at UW College of Law teaching oil and gas law courses. Perkins' Rudolph Lecture title is Landscape as Memory, Mirror and Lens: One Lawyer's Look at Three Centuries of Public Land Law and Natural Resources Law. Prior to accepting the Rudolph Chair, Perkins was an associate at the Law Offices of Guess & Rudd, P.C., in Alaska, working in their Anchorage office, where he still serves Of Counsel. He is a member of the Alaska Bar Association (Chairman, Natural Resources Law Section, 1984-88; Chairman, Law-Related Education Committee, 1986-87; Third Judicial District Fee Dispute Resolution Division, 1997-Present). Perkins is also a member of the American Bar Association (Vice Chairman, SEER Hard Minerals committee, 1991-93; Vice-Chairman, SEER Ethics Committee, 1997-98) and the Rocky Mountain Mineral Law Foundation (Trustee, 1988-97, 1998-2001; Secretary, 2001-02; Chairman, Scholarship Committee, 1991-Present). Perkins has also published three law review articles. The Rudolph Chair was established in 1993 with a generous gift from the Paul Stock Foundation to honor E. George Rudolph, who serves as dean of the UW College of Law until 1987. One hour general CLE credit may be available, subject to approval by the Wyoming State Bar.
